for most games you dont even need a boot disk

This is a problem that has a $199 solution. It is a pal to ntsc or ntsc to pal converter. Or if you wish you could use the VGA adapter and play either without a problem.

PAL outputs video to the screen at 50 hertz

NTSC uses 60 hertz

So with PAL using a NTSC system you will get a flicker and yes you burned your disk just fine.

By the way there are no good MODS for the dreamcast because it does not need to be modded except for being able to play both PAL and NTSC disks on it. The cost of a premodded dreamcast is about $79.99 at the moment.

My NTSC Dreamcast plays all Pal games I have tried the only one that was funky was Soul Caliber the first run were you pick your screen refresh the picture rolls until you select the proper refresh rate
