Default Hard Drive speed ?

sponsored links

I am looking to buy a new HD i want a 120 Gig, should i get a 7200 or 5400. I was thing that the 5400 would be cooler. does the speed and the cache size make a differnce because i noticed the then xbox IDE cable is a 40 pin ATA 33, witch is slow so the speed should not matter.

The heat doesn't make too much difference, although I did have to take the cover off my box with my 120 GB 7200 due to heat. I had 2-3 shutdowns. I might be the only one with that problem, but generally the hard drive speed is usually best to go with 7200.

5400 will run only slightly cooler. 7200 will have better access and seek times, but not a faster transfer rate (make sense?) if heat is a concern and you're **** (like most of the rest of us ) then do the simple 12v fan mod. take the ground wire for the stock fan, extend it toa screw hole. done. 12v fan instead of 7v = more air flow
