very true about valentine's day, i could lose lotta points. the reason i want to reformat is 'cause we got a racing game for my 11yr old son for x-mas and the computer won't allow it to play. i've tried upgrading the videocard with the latest driver but that didn't work. i've purchased a better card but still i can't get it to play, ggrr! so i figure to start with a cleaner sheet and see what gives!!

If the game wont play, I doubt formatting will help.

Is it a DOS game?

Might be better off telling us what game you're trying to run and include your computer spec. *I see your system is 4 years old - it could easily be that your comp isn't just up to it.

so true about the game running like crap and the system falling behind in today's times! games are best kept for PS2 and etc..,! now to try and return it will be a PIA.
for those who wants to know more, the game is THE NEED FOR SPEED, Collection of 5 games(need for speed2se, need for speed3 hot pursuit, need for speed high stakes, need for speed porsche unleashed, need for speed hot pursuit2). the minimum required power is win98, P3-450, 128mb, 16mb videocard, directx8.1, and further down the list it says recommended power is P3-800 or faster, 32mb videocard or greater!
my computer is a P3-500, win98se, 192mb, 13.6g hd, ati radeon7000 32mb card.
i guess this is where the bottleneck is, my system.
