Default Hacked Firmware for Pioneer 106 , dual layer support !!!!

sponsored links

i just got told somewhere out there is a hacked firmware
which is supposed to allow the 106 to burn dual layers

while i know the 106 can do it with a firmware update

still if it aint official firmware i most likely wont use it

but did anybody ever tried it or saw repports about it ?

I think that right now it's just a theory that this can be done, first of all we will have to wait for dual-layer DVDR discs to be released for the theory to be even put to test.

If it can be done though nil will sort it!

well i was suprised to hear about this a while ago

but why would pioneer release firmware which would actually allow the 106 to burn dual layers ?
wouldnt this mean loss of money compared to the future drives and maybe 107

and for hacked firmware
how safe can it be to use it

As mentioned we can't confirm this for sure yet. There might be more to it than just a modified firmware. Pioneer just did that on the A06 as an example and there is NO POSSIBLE WAY they will ever release this firmware themselves. Think of it as a prototype of their dual-layered burner to come. Sooner or later someone will probably get ahold of it or will come up with a hacked firmware that will allow it (if it is possible). As mentioned though we really couldn't put this to the test yet as we don't have dual-layered discs yet.
