Default help needed on home networking

sponsored links

I have 2 computers at home and I wanna network them up.

I have managed to set the client comp on internet sharing( ie, both comps now have internet access)

However, for some reasons, they can't share files.

I am talking about I can't find each other in " network place"

My server comp, is running win xp 2600, while the client one is running win me

Can someone gimma some comments on what I should set/check on both computers?

thx alot

Oh, i just found an interesting thing.

I was trying to run the "network wizard" in my winME comp, I followed all the steps. Once it prompted for restart, ( well I checked my network properties setups) and I found out that the "TCP/IP" for my network adapter disappers

In other words, whenever i tried to run the network wizard, it will remove the TCP/IP settings in the network properties.(only for my network card)?????strange

Without that TCP/IP line in the network properties, I cant have internet shared for my winME comp..

I hope you guys will understand what I meant here.

many thx
