Default Is it easy to install a modchip?

I've never soldered a thing in my life, but I have access to a soldering iron. How difficult is it to install a messiah or a neo 4 mod chip?

If you haven't soldered, installing a Messiah is difficult. A Neo 4 is not as difficult, but it requires 42 soldering points.

If you have never used a soldering iron before then soldering a modchip in your ps2 is not the place to start!!

The points on the board are extremely small, if you overheat them you are fecked.

Even soldering one wire into the ps2 should not be undertaken by a complete novice, too much risk / $

I solder electronic components for my job but I had a shock when I came to chipping mine, the points are miniscule and surrounded by other solder pads, one slip of the hand and you are doomed.

To conclude, get a pro to install for you!

Or if you've got any old sound/network cards have a go at practising your soldering on them, if you can see any chips on the card with the legs close together have a go at soldering say 5 or 6 wires in a row to the legs. But don't go anywhere near your ps2 until you feel very competent it could be an expensive mistake.
