Ok, after seeing all of the posts asking "Which chip should I get" etc. I decided to make this complete rundown of the chips for you.

No Swap Chips (ps2)

Messiah: A very stable chip, probably the best to date for the european users, but also excellent if you happen to have a USA v4 ps2. It's a great value now that the messiah2 is out.

Messiah 2: The messiah 2 is (according to most people) the best chip around. It works on all consoles (v0-v8) and is very stable, and all around quality. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Magic 2: Probably the worst no swap chip known to human kind.....

Magic 3.0: A definite improvement over the magic 2, but that's not saying much.

Magic 3.1: Finally team magic gets it right. If you get a genuine magic 3.1 and install it right, you can't beat the value and functionality of this chip. A lot of people give it an undeserved bad rap, because they got clones, or are unwilling to give it a try, because of the horrible magic 3.

Magic 3.5/3.6 - These are all clones (not genuine chips) and they come with a clip. Clones are bad, clips are bad, put them together, and I wonder why more people haven't burnt their ps2s with these chips...

Apple: Good value chip, quite stable, the worst thing about it is that when a psx backup boots the image is a bit distorted (fixes itself in a second or 2) Never all too popular, but if you can find one for your version, it's a good way to go.

Apple 2: Not really used, overshadowed by the magic 3.1 and messiah 2. Comparable to the magic 3.1.

DMS3: The new kid on the block, allows all kinds of extra features and such. If you like playing with the extra features in dvds and such, go for the dms 3.

Which chip should you buy?

If you want the best value for the money: Messiah1, Magic 3.1

Best All around, stable, etc. etc. etc.: Messiah 2

Plenty of extra toys, and upgrading capibilities: DMS3

Easy install: magic 3.1 with a clip (I'm not a big fan of clips by the way)
