Question Windows XP has lost my Plexy24 Burner.....

sponsored links

Windows XP is making me into a zombie!!!

I'm about to go back to 98!! This is a brand new machine and I've added a Plexy24 burner. It was there it was cool, XP saw it. Then it was gone. The drives jump from E to F (E being where the Plexy should be).

I've unplugged it, rebooted, powered off, plugged it back in rebooted. XP still refuses to see it. But the bios sees it fine when I start the machine up.

Any ideas?????

This is a really killer machine (or will be if I can ever get it running right) It also likes to freeze. Not as in blue screen, but just plain freeze as in locking the picture in a spot.. sometimes its even done it mid fade between windows boxes.

A virtual to anyone who can help me.

your IDE cable must be loose
does your drive eject? cause if it doesn't then it's your power cable

Default Wish it was that....

But yes the cables are snug and properly directed to the one pin. Power cable works and the drive ejects.
(otherwise the bios wouldn't see it would it?)

Thanks for giving it a shot.

Do you have the master/slave jumpers set correctly on the back of you CD drives??? You probably do, but its worth a look. =)

Default Master and slaves are cool. But....

I did switch out the cable and that helped XP to see the Plexy. Now I still have a freezing problem....

So the cable was plugged in OK, just apparently had a continuity problem.

The new cable took care of that.

I may have to go to a new video card. It may be the Radeon 8500 which doesn't have certified XP drivers.
