I have 57 progs running when my pc starts up. Also how can I tell what they are?? I can delete them when they are running but how exactly do I stop them running every time I switch on my pc. It is now freezing after a couple of mins. Had to go on old computer to post this. Simple advice please as I am not very computer literate

hssc11045,

there are different ways to do this depending on your OS. Please let us know what OS you're using, in order for us to help you further.

Cheers, T.

WinXP, well that makes it easier.

Two main ways really of stopping them.

Either look at your startup programs... Start/Programs/Startup

or better still, go to Start/Run and type msconfig

goto Startup tab and your programs will be listed, and you will be able to untick those you don't wish to start at bootup. As to telling what they are, the Command section of this page should give you a good idea of what they are due to the location path given.

HTH, T.
