Default BAD SECTORS ON HARD DISK [DELL; 8100; win2KPro]

sponsored links

I am currently installing a new hard disk and when I installed it to the computer it did not recognize it. So I have had to copy files from one drive to the next, making this long and tedious, and quite possible I will miss files. My primary drive has a bad sector and most likely needs to be reformated (wiped clean) so my plan was to buy a new hard disk and format it and copy all the files. Does anyone have a simple approach to this and I am sure there is one.

Norton Ghost

If your hard disk is accumulating bad sectors then a format won't clear it. Get it replaced or binned.

How about zero filling it?? Wouldn't that completely wipe it clean?

Personally only once in last 5 yrs., Low Level Format has cleared the BAD sectors from HDD. It was a seagate disk.

Look on the manufacturers web site for Disk Management utility that usually has Low Level Format Option.
