Default Need help, Hard drive upgrading question

sponsored links

I currently have a 40gb hard drive which is partitioned as C: drive & D: drive.

I have Windows XP & my software installed on C: drive & all my normal files on D: drive.

I have just bought an 80gb hard drive & want to copy everything over from the 40gb hard drive to the new 80gb.

Is it possible to do an exact copy of my 40gb hard drive onto the new 80gb hard drive so I won't end up having to re-install Windows XP & software on the new hard drive?

Hope you can understand what i'm asking ?

Thanks

Yeah, use Norton Ghost to do this. It clones any hard drive to another one.

Also my current 40gb hard has 2 partitions C: drive is FAT32 & 3gb big & D: drive is NTFS about 36gb big , If I use norton to clone the 40gb hard drive to the new 80gb hard drive will it also copy the partition or will I have to create the partitions on the 80gb drive before I use ghost ?

No Ghost will create a compressed file for each drive or partition you clone, no need to do anything but pick a drive and folder to store them on.
Find some good tutorial links here
