'This Computer' recognizes CD/DVD drive, but one too many?

Greetings,
I've tried to run a CD on my CD/DVD drive. It didn't read it at all (didn't open anything).
I looked at my updates, no problem there. It appears I got 2 CD/DVD programmes for my only CD/DVD Drive, which is odd. They're called:
LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-16335 and
XT7023J RTO632U SCSI CDRom Device
I'm confused in that I'm pretty noob at this stuff, and I hoped someone could help me fix it. I'm guessing I only need 1 of the programmes.
In 'This Computer', my PC recognizes a DVD-Station F: and DVD-rw station E: (FYI, LITE-ON refers to the E: one and the other to F: ... I tried shutting one of the 2 programmes down so I knew which one's which).
When I insert a cd or dvd, it doesn't do anything. While maybe a month or a bit more ago it did work. I tried 3 CD's.
Does anyone know an answer? I read about getting into the key editor and fix the thing, but it creeps me out that I might need to reinstall the OS, and I don't know if that applies to this problem too.
Cheers for any help,
-MV
