Unhappy slow startup

sponsored links

I got Windows XP and the problem is when the computer goes into windows. It takes about a minute to begin the startup (loading the anti-virus, connecting to the internet and open every program i chose to open at startup). It wasn't slow before and i didn't install any program which can slow down the computer like Kazaa or any other P2P program.

What i mean is the computer goes into window, all i can see is the desktop, the icons and the toolbar. After a while(30seconds) it begins to load up the programs i chose to open at startup which are the anti-virus, MSN messenger, connecting to the internet,...) .

I just said the same thing twice right?

So what could be the problem? how can i fix it?

What AV software are you using?
Also, do you have a LAN connection that you don't use?

AV = anti virus

did you have a network set up? and did you have it set to connect to a mapped drive at logon?

sounds like it's trying to find the other system. you need to disable it.

go to device manager, find network card and disable it in the properties.
