Question Playing VCD's with .mpg files on MAC

sponsored links

I bought some VCDs on the trade forum. Some have .dat files which I can play on my MAC (G4 dual 800) in OS9 only (not classic mode) using quicktime.

But some of the VCD's are not .DAT files but .mpg files. They are in a folder called MPEG2.

I haven't had any success with playing these VCD's (with .mpg) with quicktime in either OS9 or OSX.

Can anyone help me here?

if the file ends with .mpg it is most likely an SVCD which requires an mpeg2 codec. if you mac has a dvd-player, it should be able to open and play the file; this is standard ability for pc's so it ought to work on macs too.

Yes, Thanks. It is a SVCD. That narrows my search down to finding a Mac SVCD player. May have found something with and app called VLC
