Question Problems after ? Windows Update [; ; win98SE]

sponsored links

Hi,

I downloaded and installed the Windows Update for Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 KB828750 on Sunday October 4th.

Today, ? just a coincidence or because of update, I am experiencing problems with frequent freezing, I have also had a fatal exception OE 017F:BFF9DFFF

Have ran NSW checks and AdAware and Spybot S&D which all found 'No Problems'

If problems persist, should I try uninstalling the Windows Update.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

It may be the Windows Update, or merely a coincidence like you said. You might probably end up reinstalling Windows, though, because problems like those just keep getting worse.

Thanks for the reply.

I hope I don't have to re-install Windows though.

Will see how things go.

Try [url=***********.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.asp]IE6SP1 for 98.

Hi Van Nugent,

Windows Update is informing me of that IE6 Service Pack 1 (critical update)

I heard that when it was first available, a lot of people had problems after downloading and installing that critical update.

Do you know if the issues that arose , when it was first released, have now been resolved.

I would like to install IE6 SP1 but was a bit nervous in case it caused problems.

Thanks for your advice, I am eager to read your response to this, as I do trust your judgement

Many thanks.

Nope, it won't cause problems! Either do a web update from the link I have above or follow the instructions on [url=***********.compu-docs.com/ieadmininstall.htm]This Page to download the whole thing to your HD for later installation.

This is actually the whole IE6 at SP1 level with many bug fixes and critical updates for better security.
