Default Laptop Problem

sponsored links

Hi All!

I have an Acer LM3000i laptop which is a few months old. The problem is that from today, my DVD drive (Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K15RA) wont read or write DVDs. It will read CDs though.

Any idea on how to sort out this problem?

Cheers for your time.

Get it checked out under warranty. No point messing about while it`s still new.

Have you been viewing DVDs from different regions? (foreign DVDs) If so your drive may have locked itself into an overseas region and won`t now recognise UK ones. But I don`t think that should stop it burning.. ??
Other than that......... system restore. Phone the Acer warranty helpline.
Good Luck

My DVD writer is still set to Region 2 (I have not been messing about with it). I did a system restore but it still doesnt read or write DVDs.

Maybe the laser is goosed??? But why would it still read and write CDs?

ACER hotline it is then!

Cheers all!

Default same problem!

I have EXACTLY the same problem.
That is, my Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K15RA (on Acer Aspire 3003 laptop) will no longer read/write DVDs (since yesterday), CDs seem to still work fine, read and write.

In my case the cause seems to have been that I tried for the first time to write a DVD. It worked fine for a few seconds, then some read/write errors occured. Since then the drive no longer recognizes DVDs.

If anybody solved the problem, please let me know!
