Unhappy hasp emulator problems

I purchased an embroidery program off of Ebay. It normally requires a dongle but this program includes the emulator.
I can get it installed "no problems" on desk top computers. However, I am not able to get it installed on a lap top. The actual program installs just fine but there are MS-Batch files that are slid over from the cd to the c drive. Then you double click on the batch install file and it is supposed to install the emulator.
Like I said no problem on a desk top pc.
I am not very computer savvy so I am hoping that someone out there can help me with this problem. I just paid $100.00 bucks for the program and have gone through 3 lap tops thinking it was the computer or the windows program.
I tried vista....won't install. On my PC I have xp so I returned the vista..traded it for xp thinking that would solve the problem luck.
I am getting so frustrated. I am in another state vacationing for a couple of months. Now I am not able to use my sewing embroidery programs...
When I try to open the program I get the prompt
HASP device driver not installed -100
