Default Have an odd problem burning a DVD w/ Pioneer drive and PrimoDVD... help.

sponsored links

Okay, I have a DVDr that I got from a friend. It has a movie, and some extras on it (a couple of trailers for the movie).

I just installed a Pioneer A04 drive in my computer, and loaded up "PrimoDVD" software that came with it.

Made a "Disc Copy", and the program said it was "sucessful" in copying it.

Took the new DVDr I just made and stuck it in my Sony dvd player.

Here's the problem, the copy I made is not completley working. The dvd player recognizes it as a dvd, and it goes to the main menu. I can play the movie, or go to certain chapters through the capter menu.

BUT.... I CAN'T look at the trailers under the trailer menu. When I try to do that, I hear my dvd player speed up, and try to access that information, but it can't play the trailers.

Does this make any sense? I would figure that if I made a copy, and the movie part of it worked, so shoul the trailers/extras on it.

Anyone have any idea on if I should try a diffrent copying program, or change some preferences in PrimoDVD anywhere? (I have already looked through them on this program, but don't see anything I could change, that could have an effect on the DVDr I'm making)... but I could be wrong.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has an idea.

and by the way, the blank DVDr media I'm using was a 5-pack of "Princo" 4.7gb DVD-r 'general use'

I wasn't sure if I could also be getting this problem from the media type, but I highly doubt it. If that was the case, it would seem to me that the whole disk would either work, or not.

Thanks again,

It could be the media. Ive experienced that with princo and other cheap media that the outer edge of the disc or about the last 1/2 gig seems to yield errors. Ive copied many a movie where its perfect until the end. This is usually on discs in which the content takes up almost the entire disc. Since the trailers on your movie are likely at the end it could be they can't be detected due to the lessened quality media. Ive quit using princo for this reason. Ive found that the majority of errors is due to the media.
