Default DVD PS2 Burning problem

sponsored links

First of all if I can't get an answer to my problems here I think I am out of luck. This board looks great!

I have been reading bits and pieces of stuff all over the net but I still can't burn a PS2 DVD backup. I have also looked through the FAQs here.

Here is what I know and think I know

I have read that the media to use is DVD-R which I can do because I just got a Sony external 500 DVD burner that supports most formats.
I have read that you should burn it at 1X.

Here are the apps I have.

ROXIO Easy CD & DVD Creator 6

I have tried with ROXIO to burn a PS2 game with DVD+R and DVD-R they didn't work.

My Questions:
1) Do I need to get another app to burn PS2 games? I can get my hands on almost anything.
2) Do I need to modify my PS2 to get a backup DVD to work?
3) Is there a special way to boot the DVD backups?
4) What type of DVD media is best?

Well that's it for now any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Ok, to answer your questions:

1)Like mentioned above, get RecordNow Max (or primodvd). Best program for copying PS2 games.

2)You DO need a modchip of some sort in your ps2 to boot the copied games.

3)Depending on the type of chip, the booting methods and instructions vary.

4)I always use verbatim DVD-r discs. They are more expensive, but always worked for me. Others that work well are ritek discs. This really depends on your ps2 and chip though, some people are lucky and can boot the cheaper DVD-r discs.

Hope that helps.

Ritek dvd-r works pretty good for both ps2 and xbox. They are not that expensive.

Some people get confused because a unmodded PS2 can run films on dvd-r so they assume it can run games but they cant, you need either a mod chip or some other method to bypass the game validation checks.

Also, I would use Verbatim or Ritek, excellent for PS2 games, even Bulkpaq/Yellowtops work well but that might just be my machine, they are all different.
