Default ASUS Motherboard Athlon XP Upgrade

sponsored links

I have a asus a7v133 with 512mb memory and a Athlon xp 1700+ . I was wondering if I upgraded to a asus 266 board with some ddr memory or one of those new A7N8X boards what kind of difference would i notice. I'm asking because when I upgraded from a athlon 1100 to a athlon xp 1700+ I noticed very little difference. thanks.

man if you can afford the little extra for the A7N8X i would go for it, cause it using nForce2. It kills the VIA chipset based mobos like all the ASUS A7V series for example.

The big advantage you'll get from the A7N8X is dual channel DDR.

(ok with a dual-channel DDR system, you need to have atleast two DDR sticks, witch will provide memory at the same time rather than just one. This is like doubling the number of cars on the highway, so basicly you get double the performance from two sticks of DDR.)

2x 256 PC2700 = 512MB PC5400.
Nvidia Soundstorm 5.1 Audio.
and even some with GeForce4 MX onboard.
IEEE1394 Firewire ports...

other then that they pretty much offer the same features AGP 8X, DDR 400 Support, 333MHz FSB and RAID, SATA on some.
