AVISynth works fine with AMD's. I have run it on numerous AMD CPU's Athlon-->XP without issues.

Using VFAPI requires converting to RGB24, which a) slows down encoding and b) in theory causes lower quality.

AVISynth lets you keep the entire process in YV12, although for CCE it would be best to convert to YUY2 at the end of your script.
