Default can psu be cause of cdrw problems? [pb; club 80; win98SE]

sponsored links

I've made a few postings about my probs but....from another angle and more research...

Getting weak burns from new liteon 48125s........

3 yr old pc - can psu cause this prob?

I have been having problems creating audio cds from mp3s.
The burn is "successful" yet all of my new, cdr compatible hifi products struggle to read them. Yet those created on my neighbours nero with same media are fine.

I have tried various speeds (4,8,16x) in DAO.

Maybe, but you would probably be getting random re boots if it was. Looks like you have a lot of unnecessary drivers installed, which may be causing conflicts. Try install feurio, it has a good system diagnosis tool which will list any drivers known to cause problems and disable them for you. Its a free trial from feurio.com

I haven't seen your other posts but you might want to try several things.
Try other media, sometimes it makes a world of difference.
Try converting the files to .wav before burning. The conversion process from mp3 by the burning program can sometimes be problematic on some systems, especially with limited memory.

Make sure you Click Music CD NOT Data CD....If you want to Play MP3s then click Data....But for Music for Hi-Fi click Music CDs. Enable DMA and make sure ASPI Layers are Installed...Close down other programs before Burning.

It's possible, I remember reading quite a few posts on another forum where the members complained about "weak burns" with audio on the LTD-48125S but it all could be coincidental. Why not run some of the available tests in Nero CD Speed just to see if it reveals anything.
If you PSU was an issue you would be experiencing random restarts if anything, and since the PIII and earlier CPUs ran on the +5V rail that should leave enough for your +12V rail hardware like your HD (+2V), DVD-ROM (+1.1V) and CD-RW (+0.8V).
