Keep reading for a brief how-to on the simple process, which guaranteed to import your Canon MXF files to FCP 7 or FCP for smoothly editing.

Downloading the App- Brorsoft MXF Converter for Mac

As you see, my solution is simple: using the third-party program to convert Canon MXF to Final Cut Pro native editing format - Apple ProRes. Overall, the Brorsoft MXF Converter Mac program is a professional yet easy-to-use MXF to ProRes Converter on Mac OS X which can not only convert Canon C300, XF100, XF105, XF300 and XF305 recorded MXF files to ProRes codec videos for Mac editing, but also provide simple video editing functions for you. The Mac MXF Converter can also transcode MXF clips for editing in Final Cut Express, iMovie, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc. Below is the detailed guide to show you how to convert MXF files for using in Final Cut Pro.

Guide: Transcoding Canon MXF files to ProRes MOV for FCP X/7

1. Click "add video" button to import Canon .mxf files to the top MXF Converter for Mac. Click “add from folder” button to add MXF folder. The software will find corresponding audio content by itself and mix it to video during conversion.

2. Click the format bar, and move mouse cursor to "Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)" as output format.

Tip: If need, you can click “Settings” to freely change the video and audio settings. To keep the best quality for editing, you’d better keep your original settings. For example, if your resource file is 1080 29.97p or 59.94i, you’d better select the video size as 1920*1080 and frame rate as 29.97fps.

3. Click "Convert" button to start converting Canon MXF files to ProRes .MOV for Final Cut Pro X/7 under Mac OS.

Once the MXF to ProRes 422 conversion is done, you can import Canon MXF footage into FCP7/X for editing smoothly on Mac with ease.
