lhaney, i also have an apex 1100w they are so kool. about the topic, i prefer vcd's b/c they arent as cpu reliant as divx.

Well I got my TV-out so now I can watch all my stuff on my big tv. and I tell you waht DivX is far better looking, VCD's just dont cut it quality wise. It is an OLD OLD format that should be shot dead

oh and I trade VCD's if anyone wants any, but i also have DivX ;-)

do you need a dvd-rom drive to watch divX, or will a normal cd-rom drive be ok?

DivX is just a video codec, it is commonly used in AVI files and these are commonly burnt to regular CDR's, so no in most cases you would not need a DVDRom, although there is no reason why you couldn't burn DivX encoded movies onto a DVDR and get 6-7 top quality movies per disc or less with full surround sound.

Which one will happen first: dvd burners and discs get cheap like cdr writers and cdr blanks, or a standalone divx player? Hmmm.......
