Nothing is 100% safe, the only safe way to protect yourself, is to plug the plug from the internet.

ZoneAlarm (and other firewalls) is just a tool , to help minimize any attacks, its your common sense thats gonna save you from attack.

Common sense + upto date anti virus + good firewall = safer computing

Do not download anything from strangers, do visit too many hackers websites, and you will sleep better at nite.

I would suggest running an anti-virus program on your computer before installing. If you do have a trojan on your hard drive, I don't think that zone alarm will stop it. Hackers can automatically bypass your firewall if you've got a trojan.

Try downloading the 30 day trial of "The Cleaner" from www.moosoft.com/ and then doing a scan. It's about your best defense against trojans. I run 3 systems and I would never run without this proggie.

I read on another site that Zone alarm is nothing more than a port blocker, so id advise you to try and get something better.
