Default Soldier of fortune 2

I plan on picking up this game this weekend. I understand from another post that there is no copywrite protection on this game. I'm very surprised about this. How about a cd key? Keep in mind, I'm not asking for one, I just want to know if one is required.

Yes one is required, when you install and if you plan on playing it online using their servers, then it needs to be unique.
