Default Problem with Norton Anti Virus 2002

Im having probs doing a full system scan. Im getting the message 'Norton Was unable to scan your cumputer for infections. The virus scan has failed because of a critical error occured during the scan'...I've tried un-installing then re-installing...Any ideas?

hmmmmm sounds like you deleted a file and nortons might had been using
it
have you defrag your hard drive that might help m8
other then that not sure what it might be

I wouldnt think that was the case because reinstalling would have reinstalled the file. To be honest all I can suggest is try another virus scanner www.grisoft.com for a freeware one. If your using a cracked version or a dodgy serial then norton may have detected this.

I now know what the problem is: C:\Documents and Settings\MY NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft has a two folders called Windows and Wind(small square)ws...The latter is a corrupt folder & Windows wont let me delete it...Any more ideas?? Thanks

Drop to DOS, navigate to the folder - try deleting from there. You might have to change the attributes on the folder.

Thanks for reply. I tried it through Dos but cant get beyond c:\documents and settings...I get a message saying too many parametres...I also looked at the Symantec page & followed their instructions but no luck....any more ideas?
