Default win98 system recovery problem help!!!!

sponsored links

i just install win2000 pro but my burn doesn't work so i'm trying to format my computer back to the original win98. but when the recovery cd loads up it says the hard disk is not found or its unplug something like that. but everything is hook up. any suggest i do mean any. if you think i need a book up disc can u tell me where in win2000pro i can make one since i cant find it.

second question since my HP 7200 external cd burner is not compactible with win2000pro so i download the driver from hp.com and try to use the hardware detect program but it doesn't detect my burner. and when i try to use the original installation cds, after i install everything and restart the computer then the computer said the cd burner is not install but all the software with the installation is still there. help plzzz.

You need to run Win98's fdisk first and DELETE all partitions, including NON DOS ones before you can reinstall W98

What state is your PC in at the moment, still got 2000 ? Rather than re-format which seems a bit drastic, there will be a way for your burner to work, especially if HP has 2000 drivers for it.

If it's external, it's probably a problem with the port you are plugging the device into rather than the burner itself. When you've booted up the PC, right click on my computer and click on properties. Under the hardware tab, select device manager and just go through each section to see if any exclamations are showing, particularly in the ports section. If there are any, note what they are and post back.
