Default i have 2 probs plz help

when i try and install windows xp either as an upgrade or new install i get a shell32.dll error
anybody know what it is or can help me plz
Also
after formatting and reloading windows me I am only getting 16 colours as my monitor settings
i have tried searching for a better driver but i keep getting "best driver installed" its on board graphics
so can anybody help me with as well plz
all help and tips greatly appreciated guys

Windows cannot find a better driver as it'll be on the CD that came with the Mother Board, so when you ask it to find a better driver it just looks at whats available to windows in the default drivers (the basic ones supplied with windows to get a very basic setup running). Your motherboard is Identified during the BIOS load on bootup usually its displayed in the lower left corner of the dos screen itll be a load of letters and numbers, if your quick you can get the load to freeze by pressing the Pause/Break key, write the numbers down and then repost, to contiue the load up press the escape key..

Yeah if you want a driver for your display put your Mainboard CD in and goto update driver and get it to search the CD.
