Default breaking down avi files

does anybody know how to cut an avi file in two pieces?

Cool

You can't work with an AVI in it's format on a mac. You'd need to convert it first to a quicktime then edit.

Or iMovie, or Cinestream, or Edit DV. Etc. Etc.
