What is the exact NIC? I'm going to move this to the Networking and Security forum for you.

It probably should be connecting at 10 BaseT. But it doesn't matter anyways, there's no way it's going to reach anywhere near 100Mbps speeds (you probably won't even reach 10Mbps for that matter). Even if somehow you get it at 100Mbps, speeds would be the same so I wouldn't bother with it.

The maximum download speed for most cable modems is only 1.5Mbps. As long as it works it doesn't matter how fast your NIC card is.

Thanks, the NIC card it 10/100, so I didn't understand why it wouldn't
select 100. It selects 10. I think it's autosensing or something.

The cable from most cable modems to the PC is usually only 10 mb. Your card autosenses what is connected to. If the cable is 10mb, your NIC will run at 10mb.
