No, since you can only go as fast as your cable will allow.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. It is dependant upon your cable provider's speed. No current cable providers are able to even attempt to reach 100 mbps, not even close. So it has nothing to do with the actual physical cabling in your LAN.

If you have two comps that have 10/100 mbps cards in them they will talk to each other at 100mbps introduce a third, or cable in your case, that runs at 10mbps then the two 10/100 will talk to each other at 100 and they will both talk to the 10 mps comp at 10.

BTW most, if not all, cable connections run at 10 base.

So Demo, your last sentence, do you mean cable modem to pc (or router)
runs at 10 base?
