Question Rented Games, can they be copied?

sponsored links

I once heard that games at places like Blockbuster and Hollywood video have special protection on their games so they cannot be copied. I'm skeptical. Is this true, or can they be copied just as a normal store baught game would be? Thanks in advance.

I hav rented lots of games from block buster, and believe me, there is no extra protection. I don't see what they could do protection-wise anyway. I mean, what could they possible do to a cd to make it readable by a playstation, but not by a CDROM drive in your computer??

The games at Blockbuster, etc. are the same as any other, except they are more likely to be scratched.

However to "backup" a game that you do not own would be illegal.

[scarcasm]What i always thought blockbusters enlisted the magic pixie dust to protect their games from all evils[/scarcasm]
seriously though they are the same as what you would not buy in the stores.

yes m8 - they are the same, alot of people thought there was extra protection because they were not able to get the discs to read in - the reason for this was found out when they turned the discs over and they were scratched to **** - however any games that are protected using SafeDisc 2 (PC Games), LIbCrypt (PSX) will still need the cracks to be applied to them
