so I encode it first then change the code? or change the code first? I tried to change the code first and tmpgenc would not open it. Got an error message.

Ok im out in the cold here with no boots. I changed the code, then when i open the file in gpsot it says codec NOT installed, and tmpgenc wont open the file because its not supported.

I guess you don't have DivX311alpha, ffvfw or DivX 5.02 installed, as they all should work to convert a DivX3 file.

For TMPGEnc, no codec = not supported.
