when i type in d:\setup nothing happens it says bad command or file name, it is acting just like tha floppy boot disc, is this normal? please someone help me with it, its windows ME thanks

ok it seems something 's not right here but try this
start computer with cdrom support this will load a virtual drive .read what it says because it will assighn you your cdrom drive letter change dir to this letter then type setup you could even try and install 98 from this command .

i have tried that and still it does not work, in order for this to work do i need to remove windows xp from my comp?? or can this be done with windows still installed in my comp?

Win ME couldn't install after XP. You have to: 1. Format your HDD 2. Use fdisk, create a DOS partition and after install Win ME (or 98 or SE) as above. After, if you want you can install XP on another partition (this ins't your case).

okay i did what you said to do , go to the webpage and make my cdrom bootable right. ok. now when i try to install it it says bad command or file name. it does read my cdrom as drive A: i have tried to change it but it does not work the way some people have said to do it. i type DIR and it brings up 19 files. ????? im thinking my windows disc is not right or something, b/c i burned it just like the website said to do, and it wont let me install it so im lost maybe this will help you help me lol i sure hope so

is there not a setup file within those 19 files ?
what letter is it assighning your cdrom as ?
have you tried setup from a:
the bootable cd has worked because its starting up and reading ok

you will have to format your hard drive first and if you had xp as ntfs you will have to fdisk aswell
