[B]I can't understand why this hasn't been mentioned on these forums before the Swap Magic boot disks make playing backups on both CDR and DVDr so much easier. I have a PS2 with the Neo 2.2 mod and before to play a DVD backup I was messing around booting from action replay then swapping with a OPM cover disk whilst keeping the reset button pressed. With the Swap Magic DVD boot disk you just power-on the PS2 and keep the button pressed after about 7-8 seconds a screen appears telling you to insert DVD backup. Release the reset button, out pops the tray, insert the backup, the tray then returns, press the X button on controller 1 and thats it. about 15 seconds in total to do the complete swap, I have checked the size of the DVD boot disk in my PC and it 4,675,043,328 bytes in size which I think is bigger than any PS2 DVD I've come across. My mate has a PS2 with no mod and uses the knife trick to swap. He just boots the Swap Magic DVD boot disk and when the "Insert DVD" screen appears just does the knife trick inserts the backup and it works, every time. Also the CDR boot disk is 703MB so games that didn't work for him because he didn't have a mod chip now work. Also the DVD boot disk boots CDR backups on my PS2, again this is dead simple. Just boot to the "Insert DVD" screen press eject and insert the backup. thats it again less than 15 seconds to do the swap.

For 12 I can't fault them.

Sounds like this is a pressed disk that has a reverse engineerd boot code like the gameshark that is a dvd disk that has some type of dvd game verification code

Sounds cool to me if its real

Here is an old post but is a simplified version of how we boot our games
might be useful info for some

Call it the "The Complete Idiot's Guide to PS2 Booting" if you like

Ps2 CD-rs

To play CD-rs the neo key, 2, 2.2, 2.5 does the same procedure

1. insert gs to fool ps2 you have original game
2. inject sce(e,a,...ect) signal when PS2 backup is inserted

The no solder and knifeswap
1. insert gs to fool ps2 you have original game uses that gs info to boot
need scea signal to handle dvd rips

To play dvd-rs the neo 2, 2.2, 2.5, knife swap, and the no solder mod does the exact same procedure

Which is

1. insert gs to fool ps2 you have original game
2. insert original dvd to fool ps2 you have an original dvd game with that TOC
3. The last swap prevent the ps2 from ever thinking the door has opened

This is how Step 3 is accomplished for each chip

neo 2 2.2 and 2.5
when you let go of reset chip by-passes the normal route of the signal so
it never reaches the correct part on the motherboard and send the open and close signal back to the tray
(the 3 chips also send scea signal but not necessary for dvd-r's step 2
takes care of that)

neo 2 and 2.2
wires 3,5 &6

no solder (r-mod) and neo 2.5
The extra ribbon cable

Knife swap
The physical action of the knife

Man I would like a usa version of this to test

What you're saying is that we can boot dvd-r and rips over 630Mb without a chip/mod with these discs?

Sounds too good, but hey I'm cynical.
