Yes, people with VGA boxes said it works. Assuming you are sending the signal to a computer monitor or you can send it to a HDTV. The original thread where I got the info, people with VGA output do show a progressive scan menu and DVD play.

Yes, I use VGA to play my xbox, after hex editing those two file,
the Microsoft Dashboard and DVD play work fine with my Mointor,
My Mointor Show that the resolution is 640*480*31.52KHz(H)

Default Progressive Scan Hack Patch Tools!!!!

Hack Patch Tools!!!!!

To make the process easier for people that do not know how to operate a hex editor, can download the following tools.

Both require the XBE files

M$ Dashboard:

DVD-X v2.0 :

I have an HDTV and monster component outputs for xbox. I edited the DVDX2.0 default.xbe file to enable progressive scan and can see no improvement in quality of the picture when watching DVD movies. Do you have to edit the xboxdash.xbe file as well to get DVD movie progressive scan to work? Is there an option to setup progressive scan in DVDX2.0 or once you change the hex string should it work automatically?

Also, anyone that has got this working, can you tell a noticable difference in picture quality when the hex string is edited for progressive scan?
