Speeding up a 56k modem is basicly imposible, I it download file at 56kbps, people would't have a need for DSL or Cable. At first, you might think that 40$ a month is too high for an ISP, but when you exprence it, you get it.

Isnt this guy talking about downloading only, coz thats only half the story here.
in any case 'download accelerator' does this also - maybe better!

Incidently some ISPs that offer multiple connection packages have it that if you use 'pre-pay' @ 9.99, instead of 'pay-as-you-go', you get a faster connection!

-which is a better deal than paying the more expensive ASDL option which is priced @ 40-50!

Good news - i've found that if you clear out the many uneeded cookies in the their windows folder, surf time improves very well.

I just saw a posting elsewhere here, that also helps out in this topic as well !
See, if you add a popup-advert blocker to your browser surf time improves because-
firstly, you dont have to keep wasting time in closing unneeded windows, but more importantly,
while the popups are loading, theyre using your signal reception time, which crowds out the legitimate signal you want receieved an loaded.
clever hey??????

VLC I am also stuck with a slow 56kbps connection with no chance of getting cable/dsl.

Can you list the things that you have done tp speed up your connection for faster page loading either in here or email me please. Also I would like to know where I can get a "free" pop up adverts blocker.

Thanks

Matt
