Unhappy Date Code help

About 5 months ago I swapped the guts of my ps2 with another one from Wal Mart. Both my original and the new one from Wal Mart was a version 4 but my problem is that I need to know what my new version 4 ps2 date code is. And since I don't have the original cover that came with the system, I can't determine what the date code is. I'm trying to get the Magic 2 chip and I hear that you need to know what date code your version 4 is. Is there any other way to tell what date code your version 4 ps2 is other that just reading the cover? Please help as I would very much like to get a chip that plays dvdrs.

I am trying to get the Magic Chip and you need to have the date code for your version 4 console to know which one to get. By the way, the SCPH number is: SCPH-30001.

You have to open it up and look at the bios. If it is an 030 it is a date code 1a or 1b (needs the regular v4 chip or Messiah). If it is a 040 it is a v5 r chip. Let me know if you need to know exactly where to look...

Where exactly is the bios and will it say 030 or 040 on it?

It's in box B of the below picture. It says something like D (or B) 122 030 (that would be the 030).
