the audio must be encoded lower than usual, it is possible to do so and get away with it.

Well realdivx's DVD are fully DVD compliant with propper resolutions and aspect ratios and 5.1 digital sound. He's never let the cat out of the bag but I assume he uses a couple of passes with CCE. Quality has never suffered to an unacceptable level in fact it's always top quality in any of the multi's I've had off him. I'm sure he's not the only one doing it but in my opinion he's the best.

If he is that good then his 1:1 discs must be mirror images of the original. Will have to check out his work . This sounds great. Thanks

Seem to recall him posting his process.. Then again maybe that was on IRC... Also it would have been awhile ago, so he may have updated his methods since.

I can't see how using the full resolution at 720x576 you can encode at say average bitrate 5000 (this is needed for quality not to suffer and to avoid bitrate shortages) and fit 2 movies on there's no way even using 4pass in CCE. At that res and bitrate you can only fit 1 movie on a DVDr...

Well cant speak for realdivx's but saltys are done using a panasonic e30 where u can put up to 6 hrs of real time on to a dvdr , my freind has one and they are brilliant u can play ure vcds or video player into um and recorded it to dvdr so say u hav 4 films all 1hr and 30 mins u set the panasonic to the lowest quality which im told is higher than svcd and set the timer to record 1hr 30 mins u then take out ure first film and replace and enter title name and recorded again until all 4 films are done , the chapters are all done automatically and ure left with a blue screen menu of ure 4 films easy as that, if u want 2 films u add the times up and set the quality acordingly
