Whitie

You got it down to 2Gb but 5.1 sound will take nearly 400mb maybe more.

then the frontend menu you have to put in.... and another movie by the time all this has been done your over your limit and you've not said what bitrate or resolution you used?

take care

I must say that the first time you have a go at doing a 2 movie dvd-r with 5.1 sound it seems the most complicated process ever but after a few goes it becomes a doddle.

I am actually surprised there aren't more people doing the multi's on the board, generally closely guarded secrets don't stay that way for long.
Hi M8,

Can you let me /us know the secret please?

Drop me an email if you like as I have been wanting to have a go at this myself for a while.

Cheers

I can do a 2 movie DVDr with DD 5.1 just not with the 720-576 resolution as it's impossible to do it without having a bitrate shortage at some point as you need to use something over 5000 to get a perfect picture at this resolution!

trust me guys

res = 720x520 / 576 , File size of each video = 1.6gb , Filesize of each audio = 400mb ( average )

All totally possible with perfect quality results, as someone has already said, just take a look a realdivx's multi's & see the quality for yourselves.

Sorry but it's not really my place to reveal the secret.

I have a pana and you do not get 720x576.
Also the 6 hour mode is nowhere near SVCD at best it's an average VCD. 1,2,4 hour mode is very acceptable but still not 720x576.
firstly, i have got a panasonic DMR 20 which is now collecting dust. I used it to create a handful of multi's originally but was not happy the quality of them. Let me just straighten out a few things about the Panny first. the LP mode (4 hour mode) which is the mode Salty uses i believe is SVCD resolution , with the same restrictions as SVCD standard, ie, max bitrate of 2498. The Ep mode (6 hour mode) is in fact mpeg1/vcd resolution and bitrate (max bitrate of 1150). I was not at all impressed with the quality of the multi's produced on the Panny which is why i set out to come up with other means.

I am not prepared just yet to go into detail of how i do my multi's. But i will clear a few things up. They are reencoded on the PC, they are at full DVD compliant res, IE, 720 x 480 and they maintain their original Aspect Ration. And obviusly the .ac3 audio is maintained. If you havent already seen one of my disks, now is the time find out for yourself what is possible.
