The guide still doesn't help with high resolutions and Multi DVDr's. I'm not too bothered though because I'm 100% happy with my multi DVDr's. It just got me thinking about resolutions and how's it possible to maintain quality with high res.

I think I have an idea though.

CCE is definately used. Also maybe 4 passes and the max bitrate probably no more than 4500.

I wasnt sugesting you use a pany for your 5.1 multi's. It's plain to see from the resoluton and the quality (not to mention 5.1 audio which the pany is not capable of) that you re-encode somehow. May I hasten to add I am a big fan of your work as I'm entering the 3rd month of subs, you probably realised already. The Pany is a fairly useful tool but is no substitute for a good re-encode.

You need to use a few programs when converting from full 1:1 to multi's best are smart ripper - dvd2avi - TMPGEnc, then if you want 5.1 or higher sound quality use something like Besweet or HeadAC3he
. Ive seen some others write about poorer quality but it depends on alot more than just average bitrates, with TMPGEnc you can make all sorts of changes but the mains ones are to the GOP structure and the quantization Matrix. Getting the right information into these sections you can make a 2Hrs+ movie with downsampled audio (224Kbps) either half dvd or full dvd format about 1GB or with 5.1 around the 1.5GB size if you want to add chapters you can run the finished file through a program called VCDEasy .... good place to learn more about re-encoding is or there forums.
