i have a network card and network cable, and tried to connect them but i'm using XP Pro and it keeps saying cable not connected.

Am i thick or what?... on second thoughts don't answer that.
Tried using FlashFXP but can't get it to connect to the X-Box, looked at a few guides but i'm just fooking stupid.

I'll tell you the whole story.
Sit back and get a beer, or can off something.

I downloaded a file called"NewHDEvoX1.2" and thought...hey that's an easy way to put evoX on my X-Box.

So just burned and booted up, the picked option to install.
Now i didn't have a new harddrive, it was the original one, and dumb fu<ker me didn't read the readme.txt.

so it installed and over wrote the original xbox dash file.

Fooooook i thought, so got the hold of "GoldbergModsNoPcEvoxV2" and installed it to the tee.

But still didn't have an origianl MS xbox file to rename or boot.

And i still can't connect it to my PC.

OH dear things are looking like i'll never get the MS dash back.

lol, shi$#%, you cleaned your whole drive man. At least you got EvoX to boot now.

Also, you need a crossover cable, if you are going straight from PC to Xbox, normal network cable if you are using a hub.

Best thing to do is get an image of someone's C: or something to restore everything, if would be like installing a new drive with someone's C:

I am sure that would probably work.

I dunno why other people's dash won't work. I guess they are customized? Can someone confirm?? That each dash is tied to the drive? perhaps via HD key?

wilt, i believe there is hope m8!...i just downloaded the xboxdash from megagames and it's exactly the same as mine!, i just looked at them thru a hex editor, loading one, then t'other as reference data and they're the same!..so i'm guessing they're not unique as first thought!..maybe regional?..or different batchs?...where are u in the world and when was ur model made?...try to see if u can get a dash from someone in ur country with the same production date

and try this one here:

********sabnetwork.com:8080/~soki/downloads.html#msdashboard

..it's different from the one at megagames, smaller too at 1.27 MB (1,336,464 bytes) in size

have dug around today and compared (with nitrohex) 5 original xboxdash.xbe's...

the one at megagames: unknown origin (but i guess uk)

the one at soki's: unknown origin ( completely different to mine)

mine: pal uk model made 16/2/2002 (same dash as megagames)

a m8's: pal uk model made 18/4/2002 (same dash as megagames)

another m8's: pal uk model made 06/02/2002 (same dash as megagames)

basically all our's have the same dasboard as the one at megagames, and i do mean _exactly_ the same!...

so, i rekon u shouldn't have a problem tracking down one for ur xbox, if u post up ur region and it's production date maybe someone with the similar batch date will email one out to u?

i gotta admit that i'm intrigued by this now, so i hope this helps u m8
