Default Can playing a PAL game on NTSC PSone damage anything?

sponsored links

Hey everyone! I had a question. I unknowingly put a PAL backup in my internally modded PSone. I figured it was a PAL game because the screen just kept rolling up and down. Well, I put in another backup that wasn't PAL and it wouldn't load. It just went to the memory card/cd player screen. I turned it off and turned it back on and it worked. Can a PAL game be damaging to a NTSC PSone or was it just a coincidence...? Is the game not booting a sign of something to come? Sorry if this sounds really stupid, but I'm really wondering about it.

I don't think so, I have put lots of PAL games in my NTSC PSOne. It just makes the screen roll I think. If you want to actually play the games you could try the import player it lets you play some PAL games in NTSC.

no, but using backups on your PS1 (PAL or NTSC) can cause extra wear-and-tear on the laser. Just a way of life.

Ok, I'm not sure how exactly using backups causes more wear on a laser?!?!?!??? The laser reads the same for an original or a backup. The only thing you'll damage with PAL games are your eyes from all those lines.

NFERNO-

b/c backups are simply not the same quality CD as originals, so the laser has to work just a wee bit harder. it's no big deal at all. I've been playing backups on my PS1 for 3-4 years.
