You guys are dead wrong... PSX may not care if they are black-bottom but they are better, more reliable and FAR more scratch resistant. The problem with scratches is that it cause the laser to reflect and bounce and makes the data harder to read, with black bottom CDs this does not happen. If you say otherwise you are just ignorant. This is why PSX games were black to begin with... they all play the same, yes, but blacks last longer and load faster...

Black CDR's and black PSX originals are not the same, you can't compare them.

If a black CDR happens to be more scratch resistant, then that would have nothing to do with it being black.

they aint more stract resistant its coz of the colur of the disc!

verbatim are like a blue colour and originals are black and black cdrs are black....

notice somthing......

datasafe are green/silver and some other makesa re gold....

the light colur bottom disks aint as good as the darker bottomed disks because the dark disc absorbs more of the light from the lazer making less interfeiance the light bottom discs when scratched send the beam where ever and struggle to read it thats why they not as good as the darker bottom discs. Im not here to argue but thats my thought on the discs.

I beleve that sony made the disks black in the first place was to make it easy to tell if it was an orginal and not a copy at just a glance.

Also, I do think that black bottem disks may work slightly beter (tho i have never used them)

I use any type of crappy media, and my PSX/PS2 both read them all fine. I never get FMV skipping, never burned a coaster and don't get horrible loading sounds. I couldn't care less what media I use, although getting spindles of cheap ones annoys me because I don't have anything to put my games in

I was told by one of my teachers (who also repaired psx) that the black cds were more reflective and therefore easier for the playstation to read.
