Default DivX to SVCD ... best & *easiest* method?

sponsored links

yes, I have seen many posts about problems with converions but was wondering if there was in fact a way that produced excellent quality as well as ease of conversion.

A m8 of mine converts using the Panasonic MPEG Encoder and has had mixed results. The first one came out like crap I am told ... the 2nd was a perfect converion. Obviously the source is a factor, as well as experience (gets better with practice I guess) ...

Anyway, I know I can use Nero but we all know the results are mediocre. Is the above program the best to use? Any others? Something that will do video AND sound flawlessly (or close)? Any all-in-one programs that will also do conversions for DivX with AC3 sound?

Thanx all ... just getting into ripping DVDs and converting DivX so any help is appreciated.

[url=********dvd2svcd.doom9.net/]dvd2svcd is one of the easier methods to rip DVD and convert to svcd.

Check the guides at www.vcdhelp.com

Personally I use :
DVD Decryptor
DVD2AVI
TMPGEnc

There's a trade off between the quality you get and the amount of messing around you have to do. However no matter what you do remember you are taking a film thats 4.7Gig+ on DVD and ending up with a 2 -> 2.5Gig SVCD so you are going to lose some quality.

Also lookout for my good m8 ChickenMan's excellent guides at ********forum.ceedeersoft.cc/index.php (Just remove all the "e's" in the posted URL, it was a banned forum link here but has now gone 100% legit. I will get that sorted for future ref)

What CM knows about ripping is second to none.

looking to convert DivX, as opposed to DVD.

For converting from Divx to SVCD, I extract the audio with VirtualDub 1st, then encode the original divx video and the extracted audio with TMPGEnc. For splitting SVCD (if the file is too large), you should use bbMpeg. Comes out good as can be expected without a lot of extra messing around. Not sure about AC3 audio, though...
