Default I need a recommedation for a DVD writer

sponsored links

I have an old style 700mhz iMac (the one that looks like the DV but isn't) and I want to get a decent external DVD writer to backup my PS2 collection.

What would be a good choice of writer ?
Will writers work with my kind of machine ?
What software will I need to backup PS2 DVD's ?

Any information would be gratefully received.

Thanks

All writers willl work Toast is the program you need for ps2 games

DVD extractor, DVD Studio pro, and Toast are what you need for dvd movies.

I would get

pioneer a04
pioneer a05 or
new sony drive

a pioneer a04 (cheap works well $159 day after thanksgiving at staples $50 instore rebate $90 mail in) , ao5 around $250 burns ar 4X, or the new sony dru500 around $350 burns at 4x and all "+" and "-" formats

External cases ususally run about $100 in the store $70 on line

I have some simular questions too, only my mac is a beige G3 300mhz.

Can I place an internal dvd-writer (ao5 or sony500) in my mac? I'm confused about ATA and ATAPI. My techguide says I have ATA and these dvd-writers use ATAPI. Is ATA the same as ATAPI?

And then, is my mac fast enough to burn dvd's?
I also have a pci-firewirecard installed, so I could connect one externally, but these are a bit expensive.

And does toast already recognize the pioneera05 or sony500(which version?), or do you need a future update?

Atapi and ata is the same I dunno about the speed exactly if the speed is ok but I am pretty sure that it will work fine and yes toast should recognize the drives with no problem

no problem glad to help and yes the firewire should work fine if you decide to stick it into a external case also (internal and external should be fine)
