DRU500A Firmware Question - CDROM-Guide forums

Thanks for any help.

I applied the 1.0d firmware to my drive. The process involves running an exe, restarting, rerunning the exe, then restarting. When I got to the second restart (and after I got the installation successful message), my machine (XP Pro) froze and I had to reset. From everything I know to check, the drive is correctly recognized by XP and indicates the firmware is 1.0d.

I decided to try to apply the firmware again and the exact same thing happened.

Although the drive is recognized and the firmware is listed as 1.0d, could there still be a problem?

If it works fine, do not use an update. That's the general rule & that's how it should be. I wouldn't keep doing that update if I were you.

BTW, you didn't attach the HD & the dvd to the same cable on the board did you? put the dvd drive on the other cable, so that there is no data conflict with the HD.
