what im trying to do is network a mates and mine laptops together, we both have network cards. what we want to do is transfere files and play games against each other, what will i need to get and how would i go about doing this?

any help will be appreciated

all you will need is either a crossover cable costing about a fiver.

Or a hub and a network and 2 cat 5 cables.

then basically just plug it in and it should be working to play games,
