i think this codec has a problem with divx5 stuff
rat race keeps skipping every 10 seconds or so... annoying!

If you want to re-encode an AVI at a lower bitrate/res/framerate. Then the quickest way would be to use AVISynth to resize, etc. and then encode with VirtualDub using fast recompress.

OGM is just another container format, like AVI. To convert an OGM to AVI you can just demux the video using VirtualDubMod or OGMDemuxer. Then if it uses vorbis audio you would need to convert it to say mp3 and mux it in with your video. Also if it is OGM, then I would think that there is a decent chance that it uses XviD. In which case if the player doesn't support XviD then you should change the fourCC code to DX50.

If anyone has any questions about video, not directly related to the actual player then you should probably post in the VCD forum.

Just thought I'd let you all know, if you put a DivX file on a disc and it won't show up in the media player browser, then it probably doesn't have an extension. My mate gave me a copy of Final Fantasy and Rush Hour 2 a while ago, and they're on the disc but don't have a file extension, to play them I had to rip them off the disc onto my PC and give them a .avi extension.
